A Decade of Mitsubishi Steel Investment in Indonesia: Stronger Foundations, Greater Confidence for the Future

Surabaya, 6 June 2025PT Jatim Taman Steel Manufacturing (JTS), together with Mitsubishi Steel Group, proudly celebrated a decade of strategic investment partnership in Indonesia’s national steel industry. The milestone event was held at The Westin Hotel, Surabaya, and was attended by Mr. Jun Yamaguchi, President & CEO of Mitsubishi Steel Mfg. Co., Ltd., and Mr. T. Numakawa, President Director of PT Jatim Taman Steel Manufacturing.

This ten-year celebration marked an important milestone in strengthening Mitsubishi Steel Group’s long-term commitment to Indonesia, while reaffirming its continuous contribution to the development of a high value-added steel industry ecosystem supporting the automotive, heavy equipment, and construction sectors.

In his keynote address, Mr. Jun Yamaguchi expressed his appreciation for the strong collaboration with PT Jatim Taman Steel and all partners in Indonesia. He emphasized that Indonesia remains a key strategic market within Mitsubishi Steel Group’s regional expansion roadmap.

“We are proud to be part of the progress of Indonesia’s steel industry. This collaboration forms a solid foundation for the future. We are fully committed to continuing our investment and growing together,” said Mr. Yamaguchi.

The celebratory atmosphere was further enhanced by a special performance from Hiroaki Kato, a Japanese singer and entertainer, who delivered energetic performances symbolizing friendship and cross-cultural collaboration. The event, attended by hundreds of Jatim Steel employees as well as key stakeholders and strategic partners, was professionally hosted, creating a meaningful and memorable evening.

In his closing remarks, Mr. T. Numakawa, President Director of PT Jatim Taman Steel Manufacturing, reflected on the significance of the journey and looked ahead with optimism.

“These ten years represent more than an investment story. They reflect a shared journey built on trust, innovation, and cross-border partnership. We are ready to enter the next decade stronger and with greater confidence,” he stated.

As part of Mitsubishi Steel Group, PT Jatim Taman Steel Manufacturing continues to expand its technological capabilities and production capacity, particularly in special steel bars, which have become a critical backbone of the national and regional industrial supply chain.
