PT Jatim Taman Steel Manufacturing (JTS) has once again demonstrated its strong commitment to environmental sustainability and its transformation towards a Green Steel Industry through a strategic transition to renewable energy sources.

In an official ceremony held in Malang, Jatim Taman Steel signed a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) Agreement with PT PLN (Persero), represented by its subsidiary, PT Energy Management Indonesia (EMI).

The agreement was symbolically signed by Mr. Yamamoto and Mr. Ujiie, Directors of Jatim Taman Steel Manufacturing, both representing Mitsubishi Steel Group as the company’s principal shareholder. The signing was witnessed by members of the management team of PT Energy Management Indonesia.

This initiative marks a significant milestone in Jatim Taman Steel’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and enhance energy efficiency across its production operations. The move aligns with the Green Industry Certification (Sertifikasi Industri Hijau) program of the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as the government’s long-term Net Zero Emission targets.

“We are committed to positioning Jatim Taman Steel as a pioneer of environmentally responsible steel manufacturing in Indonesia. The adoption of renewable energy is not merely symbolic, but a concrete step toward ensuring the sustainability of the national steel industry,” said Mr. Yamamoto, Director of JTSM, in his remarks.

The collaboration with PLN is also expected to open broader opportunities for the integration of green energy solutions at Jatim Taman Steel’s production facilities in Sidoarjo and Gresik, including long-term plans for the implementation of digital energy consumption monitoring systems and further optimization of melting process efficiency.

Through this progressive initiative, Jatim Taman Steel reaffirms its position as part of the Mitsubishi Steel Manufacturing Group of Japan, which consistently promotes synergy between advanced technology, operational efficiency, and environmental responsibility across all of its business operations.
